My Journey
19 June 2012, I can easily hark back to this date very well when my dad gifted me my very first computer. I was at school and mom had conveyed me about this good news when she had come to school to pay fees I did my primary schooling from Holy Cross School, Gangtok. I was so happy that it cannot be expressed in words. I was really good in computer science, I still remember Anil Sir’s Classes at Holy Cross School, I really miss those days.
We had computer Science in our curriculum from Standard 3. Its shocking but in Standard 5 my dad seeing my interest for computer enrolled me to a Computer Coaching at the very beginning of the session. They only provided certificate and Diploma Courses. So my dad requested his friend the owner the centre to enrol me under special circumstances for their course - Diploma in Software Applications. So here I earned my first Diploma yes that’s weird right a boy having a diploma degree at a very young age of 11. I topped with a 91.5 percent there. Life is weird. What was weirder was to attend classes with High-Secondary School Kids and College Students. Never mind time passed by and they started knowing me well. So here at the end of the course I was introduced to some designing softwares like Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop. Since it was a basic course we didn’t delve much deep into the topics.
Later in Standard 9 I enrolled for Diploma in Software Management (consequent course Diploma in Software Application) here I aced on all the topics from the previous course and was taught the basics of programming. I successfully completed the course with a amazing 98.2 percent. I was the highest scorer that year. I still hold the youngest degree holder tile there. Yes so by the age of 16 I was having 2 Diploma Certifications. I hold the title of youngest degree holder
Degrees are just a piece of paper that’s what I believed. Post this I explored the Graphic Designing Part that was taught during both of the course. There is a reason I call Degrees to be just a piece of paper; in Class 10 when I had connected with some graphic designers I realized that course just teaches you how to use different elements of a software, but it fails to prepare you for the industry. So further looked for internships but due to lack of experience was unable to get selected I started on independent projects and gigs for different Model United Nations and Social Organizations.
Finally by end of Class 10 I could get an junior internship. Presently I work as a Graphic Designer for 3 startups Across the Globe (International), Employed India and Bano Tech as a graphic designer. Further From Class 10 I started Exploring on developing websites and with that knowledge I have been able to develop 3 Webistes. Higer-Secondary School helped me explore the world of Programming and Python. Presently I can code in 3 languages :Python, C/C++ and Arduino.
